It's 85f (29c) as I type this and glorious blue skies (with the smell of smoke)
Yep, it's due Monday (7th)
The first snow is forecast Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday then more tstorms. The Aspens haven't changed yet but it's cooler at night (yay) but the ones in FoCo have
Alan will be home Sunday night so Monday its bring in the Buddlieas, Hosepipe reel , get the plug in heaters ready for the horses water troughs and get ready for the first signs of winter and freezing temps on Labor Day!
I have to take down the Hummingbird feeders then too, to encourage all of them to migrate but there's only 2 around at the moment which is good and they've gone to warmer climate already
So deck life is quieter, just the squirrels now shouting at everything. Really funny when they get going
The Cameron Peak Fire is now 23,900+ acres and 6% contained - letting it burn as much as possible which is good as most of the forestation is pine beetle dead. The sunsrises and sets are quite glorious , the sun rises and sets bright red and the moon is a deep orange
The picture below was a sunrise once it got brighter the smoke took over
Riding is happening more , when the wind changes direction and the smoke/smell has left the area. Champ got the most work , I moved the horses the other day to their other pastures , so now it's Tink's turn next week - shall see if it turns up first. (I have retired Dakota early as she is still having shoulder problems and Shoni is too mental to ride, if he can't see me he freaks out so being in the saddle results in not being in it!)
Every Wednesday is fun time. I am doing lessons with Beastie on Zoom - we've had 2 so far. Apparently we do more in 2hrs than the school in a week! I'm loving it. Designing the lessons, for writing, spelling, math and she wants to learn the time on a clock face not digital, so shall start that too. Plus reading together - we've just started The Twits by Roald Dahl
I sent a box full of writing paper, math grid and assorted word flashcards I made before we started this and last week I made a package up for Diaval too - start him earlier on his speech, attention span, colors, numbers and alphabet and some lessons with Thomas the Tank as the theme (sound familiar!) Small steps at first to engage with me on a screen first
So Miss Claire has been woken up :) and I'm loving it , just need alot of coffee before, during and after! I now have contact with Neuro #4 , waiting till Monday to schedule a consult so that he has got all my records, scans etc before we meet/talk
So maybe the final phase before being treated and I can be out of facial pain forever !. Seriously lost all patience with this virus paranoia, as the sick get sicker and addicted to pain meds - that's a battlefield topic tho
A little bit of fun for you - I'm so happy the old kettle blew up , been waiting many years to buy a 221b kettle. Ever since I saw it on Sherlock ( Benedict & Martin) So purdy and amazing when it's dark. It's the little things!!!
and another bit of fun - recorded for Beastie as she fell in love with this guy.
So it's quieter with the Hummers migrating but still have a very opinionated Squizzel
I realized when I got inside, reason for the hissy-fit was that Mac was on the deck!
