Shoshoni  - Born Aug 4th  2004

Sire - Thorny

Dam - Dakota

Named from one of the local Indian tribes here in Wyoming and wanted to link their names (Dakota) but couldn't so decided on Shoshoni as it's a local area to us here

I have never come across this kind of horse at all. He is so highly strung and nervous about life.

When we were on jean's ranch - he was 100% with Dakota till the age of 7yrs old. (even though I asked her to separate the herds with the young from their mothers etc) So he has 'problems!

Connie (my friend and owned a tack shop in town) and helped me train and ride , she came out once a week for me too!

She worked with Shoshoni alot and it was decided to separate Shoni from Dakota  - so since then Shoni is with Tink and Champ with Dakota. Especially after a huge fight in the corral one time where the metal fencing was demolished , as Shoni would not submit to Champ being alpha male and let him near Dakota. ! He is still a pain when I want to halter, do bug lotion . Soon as he sees the halter he's off down the canyon and we play hide and seek. Eventually I get the halter on him but it takes alot of work (and cookies at the end too)
without the halter he is friendly, up with me for cuddles and attention. Loves his butt being scratched (one of my imprinting things with the foals etc) and is so gentle . schitzo horse , literally!
Ive had only ridden him a few times - each time I am thrown because something in his eye line has moved suddenly (like a blade of grass or a bird flying!) The last time I ended up hanging over the round pen with 3 ribs out of place. I did get back on right away but he is not confident or safe enough so now i just do ground work with him
its such a shame too as his gait and posture is phenomenal , like a dressage prance and stride. Beautiful and soft

I will try again one day when I am strong enough (or stupid enough) as he is so sweet when on the ground
